Not sure I follow, Steven, can’t tell which direction your point is arguing!
For the record — I do regularly do this; I currently aim for12 hours per week of reasonably high intensity cycling (c. 1000 calories per hour). If I don’t eat say, 3–4000 calories per day, I lose weight rapidly, get prone to injury and illness, and yes, get very cold!
